Imperialism

Imperialism is a policy where stronger nations extend their economic, political or military control over weaker territories. This was something other nations were doing long before the USA began.

During the first 1/2 of the 19th century manifest destiny was important to the United States. How did that set the stage for AMerican imperialism and the

desire for military strength
thirst for new markets and
belief in cultural superiority?

I think that imperialism was important because we had to over take other natins to make manifest destiny possible. To do this we had to build up the military, and help other countries believe in what we believe in. After we have helped another nation we can set up trade with that nation.
